With the breath, oxygen reaches the brain, and it stimulates the hypothalamus gland causing it to release endorphins, which in turn activate the other ductless glands in the body. The brain begins to relax and emotions open and move more freely when the endorphins are flowing.

As you breathe, you increase the oxygen flow to your body and bring in life force energy. The amount of oxygen that you inhale through breathing influences the amount of energy that is released into your body cells.

With this variation of pranayama breathwork, the increase in oxygen positively influences the pH/acidity of the blood, allowing your body to alkalize, allowing it to be healthier, stronger and more balanced.

The way you breathe also strongly affects the chemical and physiological activities in your body. For this variation of breathwork, we inhale and exhale through the mouth in a specific way and in a meditative controlled way, which brings awareness into the body. You give your brain a much-needed break/rest and your body a much-needed connection and awareness.

With breathwork, your nervous system is regulated, you are no longer living in a state of continuous stress response and disembodiment.

Your breath reaches your entire body, even places where the toughest stuck emotions – sadness, fear, grief, shame, etc.- reside and will bring them to the surface to be processed. The breath will move the stuck energy and through disciplined regular practice, will get through the block and finally release it.

With every release, you are freeing yourself from the negative impact of suppressed and stuck emotions/energy, which might come in the form of a physical disease or condition and/or a psychological one.

You will reach a sense of peace, relaxation, and relief.

This is not breathwork to relax, it is breathwork to move energy. It’s not comfortable and your brain will resist it at first.

Your body might even react in “funny” ways, which might be resistance at times because your brain wants to stay in charge and is not comfortable with the breathing pushing through blocks.

You’ll have to stay with the breath despite the discomfort, the result is incredibly worth it. It is simply your freedom and well-being.

Your breath has the ability to get to energy and trauma you did not even know were there. These might be:

-Incidents from the preverbal age: Pre-verbal trauma
-Stress and emotions absorbed in the womb
-Inherited trans-generational trauma

This is how powerful your breath is.

You might not remember an incident, but your body does. And one day it starts whispering about the hidden trauma. If you don’t listen, the whispers get louder and louder until it is a scream. It might start as a mental discomfort, but the more we ignore it, the more this discomfort grows until it starts showing on the physical level, causing pain and dis-ease.

Breathing is the ultimate life source. Use it to heal and thrive.
